Everybody’s uptight these days. You know, anxious or angry in a tense and overly controlled way. People are tfilled with anxiety, on edge, high-strung, hypersensitive, defensive, impatient … uptight about the presidential election, uptight about race relations, uptight about the escalating cost of living, uptight about being uptight!
The late great Godfather of Soul James Brown once famously sang, “You got ants in your pants and you need to dance,” and that just might be the cure for so many uptight people.
Take a cue from Archie Bell & the Drells, a hit soul music group from Houston, Texas. They forged a Top 40 hit in 1968 titled, “Tighten Up.”
This is your prescription. If you’re old enough to remember the dance, turn up the groove (you know what period I’m from), then get up and tighten up! If you don’t know how to “Tighten Uo,” it ain’t that hard. Just get up and tighten up your body all over to the rhythm and the beat.
It’ll release all that tension, anxiousness, and hypersensitivity. Give it a try! Before you know it you’ll be “uptight” no more.
