Walmart Supercenter and CareerLink look to fill 300 full, part-time customer service positions at job fair
COMPTON — Walmart Supercenter and Compton CareerLink are hosting a job fair to fill 300 career opportunities at the new Supercenter, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Compton CareerLink Center, 700 N. Bullis Road, Compton.
Mayor Aja Brown is expected to participate in the job fair at the new Walmart, which occupies the former Sear’s store on Long Beach Boulevard and Orchard Avenue, which most recently was the Compton Fashion Center indoor swap meet.
The new complex is scheduled to open in early 2017.
CareerLink, a program funded by the City is an employment resource that links career seekers with employers. The job fair allows the city to help promote new job and career opportunities in the Compton. The 300 jobs include department managers, customer service representatives, sales associates, stock clerks, cashiers and maintenance workers, among other positions. The majority of new Walmart associates will begin work in December to help prepare the store for its grand opening.
A job at Walmart means competitive pay and career opportunities. Last year, Walmart promoted 18,700 of its associates in California to jobs with higher pay and more responsibility. In addition, 10,000 employees throughout the state were promoted from part-time to full-time.

Walmart also offers eligible associates matching 401(k) contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise, an Associate Stock Purchase Program and company-paid life insurance. Additionally, eligible associates receive a quarterly cash bonus based on store performance.
