COMPTON — Walmart Supercenter and Compton CareerLink are hosting a job fair to fill 300 career opportunities at the new Supercenter, from  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Compton CareerLink Center, 700 N. Bullis Road, Compton.

Mayor Aja Brown is expected to participate in the job fair at the new Walmart, which occupies the former Sear’s store on Long Beach Boulevard and Orchard Avenue, which most recently was the Compton Fashion Center indoor swap meet.

The new complex is scheduled to open in early 2017.

The job fair allows the city to help promote new job and career opportunities in the Compton. The 300 jobs include department managers, customer service representatives, sales associates, stock clerks, cashiers and maintenance workers, among other positions. The majority of new Walmart associates will begin work in December to help prepare the store for its grand opening.
