COMPTON – Thanks Giving of charity and goodwill continues in the “Hub City” in 2018 with Mayor Aja Brown’s 5th Annual Compton Thanksgiving Community Dinner, Nov. 19, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Dollarhide Community Center, 301 N. Tamarind Ave., Compton The event is free to the public and will be served on a first-come basis.

The Lynwood Senior Citizen Center, 11329 Ernestine Ave., will host seniors fortunate enough to have received a requisite ticket for a free Thanksgiving turkey, on a first-come basis, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. The program is limited to the number of donated holiday birds; one turkey per household.

Golden State Water Company and Assemblymember Reginald Jones-Sawyer, Sr. are collaborating to distribute 100 turkeys for the holidays to needy families at Youth Athletic League, 7901 Compton Ave., Los Angeles, Nov. 20, 2018 at noon.

Golden State Water’s Operation Gobble program will distribute more than 8,000 Thanksgiving turkeys throughout November to nonprofit organizations that benefit local families and individuals with limited resources. Since the program’s inception in 1990, Golden State Water has provided more than 232,000 turkeys through partnerships with elected officials and community organizations. All 68 California Ono Hawaiian BBQ restaurants will donate 50 percent of their sales made between 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18 to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund. Additionally, from Nov. 18-21, firefighters and police officers who visit any California Ono Hawaiian BBQ location and show their badge, ID or are in uniform will receive one free Hawaiian plate courtesy Ono Hawaiian BBQ.

Jackson Limousine Service, Male Success Alliance (MSA) Rite of Passage Turkey Giveaway, Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, 8 a.m. to noon, 3669 W. Slauson Ave., Los Angeles. MSA will also prepare meals for families in need the day before Thanksgiving. Everyone is welcome to come out and be a helping hand for a great cause. The meeting time is 7 a.m. at the CSUDH flagpole near the bus stop in front of the university to carpool.

PVJOBS 8th Annual Turkey Giveaway in collaboration with Hensel Phelps will distribute free turkeys, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon, at 4112 S. Main St., in South L.A.  Turkeys served on a first-come basis as long as supplies last.

The 3rd Annual Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities Holiday Turkey & Toy Giveaway will be held Dec. 8, 2018 at New Prospect Baptist Church, 10910 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 100 trial lawyer volunteers who will be joined by the Los Angeles Police Department South East Division, the Los Angeles Fire Department, and Council  District 8 to distribute turkey dinners, groceries, and toys to an anticipated 2,000 needy guests.
