Former NBC news anchor Tamron Hall was booted for Fox News’ Meghan Kelly at a $69 million price tag – one of network’s worst moves ever

NBC should be ashamed for making the gargantuan mistake to boot then anchor Tamron Hall in 2017 for Fox anchor Meghan Kelly. NBC executives sent Hall  a university-trained broadcast journalist, and television host packing, to gamble on “Blond Over Color” in former Fox news host Kelly. Hall was formerly the national news anchor for NBC News and day-side anchor for MSNBC.

Kelly, as you recall gained a significant level of fame going toe-to-toe with then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. NBC, the more prestigious news network liked her chutzpah and wooed her from Fox offering a lucrative contract, hoping the Fox glow would transfer to NBC’S lackluster morning ratings with a perky AM show.

It never manifested. Kelly was just mediocre, at best. Hall’s ratings were significantly better.

NBC overlooked the fact that Kelly was a trained lawyer whose pretty face landed her a TV gig; and that Hall, a university-trained journalist was always the more talented on-air personality, whose pretty face also helped land her a TV gig. The TV news business puts a lot of stock in how good on-air talent looks and comes across on camera.

Kelly’s miscues regarding Santa Claus’ “whiteness” and “Black-face” viability, revealed her weaknesses in the craft with respect to subjective opinion versus political correctness. She should have kept some personal views private.

The joke is on the network, however, because it has “paid out the remaining half of Kelly’s contract, meaning she’s walked away with a total of $69 million for her year-and-a-half of work.”
