A time of self-reflection
In the midst of this crisis, we have a plethora of time for self-reflection. This allows us to embody gratitude to those closest to us in our homes. For me, this extra time has allowed me to consider the power and bounty of God.
As a Muslim, during this month of Ramadan, I am used to going to the mosque for prayers and to open my fast. However, despite being unable to do this because of the status-quo, praying alongside my family and experiencing spirituality on an individual basis has been an awe-inspiring experience.
Furthermore, I am reminded of the wise words articulated by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to which I belong, “A true believer should not be saddened at times of tribulation…at times of difficulty, a fountainhead of love starts. Beloveds of God Almighty do not face tribulations because of sin.”
As a college student, I feel for the millions of students that have been devastated by this situation. In such economic and political strife, let us stay strong and establish a deeper relationship with God.
