COMPTON — Students at Centennial High School will learn to build a Learning Garden,Tuesday, Oct. 4, from noon to 1 p.m. on campus, 2606 N. Central Ave.

The Kitchen Community (TKC), an organization that introduces scalable gardens to schools to ensure that they choose and value real food over processed, benefiting the community in the long term, is partnering with NutriBullet and the Compton Unified School District to implement the Learning Garden at Centennial HS.

Last year, NutriBullet University conducted a 90-day study with seniors at Centennial High by bringing in a team of nurses to take health screenings, donating NutriBullet nutrient extractors for all participants, providing all produce and materials necessary to run the program and overseeing progress with the help of an on-site registered dietitian.

NutriBullet worked more than 90 days to transform the way students looked at vegetables, hoping to overhaul the eating habits of an entire generation – one school at a time.

To follow up on their success, NB is funding the new Learning Garden so students can continue their healthful habits and have access to fresh produce.

Following the planting of the new garden Maye Musk, our newest TKC -LA board member, will join Mayor Aja Brown and CUSD board members to take in the rhythms of the Centennial Hign Jazz Band play, and enjoy smoothies.
