TEMECULA, Calif. — Labor Day weekend may mark the end of the summer, but it doesn’t mean the summer fun has to stop. For more than 30 years, Thornton Winery combines the best of wines and music at its annual champagne jazz series which begins at the height of summer and continues into the fall.
Nestled a few hours by car, in the heart of the Temecula wine country, Thornton Winery offers a scenic outdoor setting that embodies the Southern California lifestyle: Great wine, fine dining, nature, and live entertainment.
In addition to filling the air with music, Thornton Winery offers wine tastings, private and group tours and a shop filled with their private label from champagnes to red and white wines and chocolate wines. One of the several live music acts appearing on the Champagne Series stage is Dave Koz and Friends’ Summer Horns Tour featuring the sounds of Gerald Albright, Aubrey Logan, Kenny Lattimore, and Rick Braun.
For two nights, multiple Grammy-nominated saxophonist Dave Koz brings smooth jazz to Temecula with some of his talented friends. The California native is constantly touring around the world but always makes Thornton Winery one of his favorite destinations. Koz, as a solo act or as the ringleader of assembling hand-picked musical icons, gives fans an unforgettable musical experience.
Smooth jazz master Gerald Albright also knows how to bring the funk to contemporary R&B/urban style music magic delivered through his saxophone or bass guitar. Born and raised in Los Angeles, the 8-time Grammy nominee Albright is living the California musical dream.
The “rose” among the “thorns” — her male musician counterparts, Aubrey Logan known as the “Queen of Sass” can hold her own on several levels. The Seattle native made Los Angeles her home and an impressive mark on the music world as a song writing, trombone playing vocalist. Logan lets no grass grow under her feet. She is preparing for a US Tour, a European Tour, an Australian Jazz Cruise, and releasing a new album.
The award-winning Kenny Latimore, alumnus of Howard University in Washington, DC, adds the romantic vocal element to the “Summer Horns.” As a humanitarian, Lattimore uses his life and platform as a tool to inspire others to pursue excellence and elevate positive conversation about art, culture, family and faith.
Allentown, Pennsylvania’s Rick Braun takes down the house with the high-energy of his trumpet. “So much of what I do and have done throughout my career is to get people up on their feet, moving and having a good time!” said Braun who released his 18th album, “Crossroads,” featuring 10 tracks.
