Los Angeles will host a memorial for Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and all other victims at the Staples Center, Feb. 24

LOS ANGELES – A Feb. 24 memorial service at the Staples Center will will honor former LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant, 41; his daughter Gianna, 13; and seven others who died in a helicopter crash in January, including:

Payton Chester, 13

Sarah Chester, 45

Alyssa Altobelli, 14

Keri Altobelli, 46

John Altobelli, 56

Christina Mauser, 38

Ara Zobayan, 50

The memorial date of 2/24 is symbolic, representing the jersey numbers worn by Bryant and his daughter, a rising young athlete who was sometimes seen court-side at Lakers games with her father, NBC News reported.

Staples Center, where Bryant treated fans to 20 seasons with the Lakers, became a spontaneous gathering place for mourners after the helicopter tragedy. Flowers, candles and other items were left outside the arena, said NBC.
