COMPTON — Four incumbents at the Compton Unified School District retained their seats on the Board of Trustees as the final ballots were tabulated Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Though some mail or provisional ballots remain to be counted, it appears incumbents Mae Thomas (2,205 votes), Satra Zurita, board chair (2,018 votes), Margie Garrett (1,654 votes), and Alma Pleasant (1,241 votes), accrued enough support to avoid any changes in board leadership.

The closest challenger to dislodging any member of the board came from Gregory Pitts, who tallied 1,178 votes.

The race for board leadership proved to be tenuous with 19 candidates vying for more than 16, 201 votes cast.
