COMPTON Hazardous waste, including e-waste items can be safely disposed of at a Free Household Hazardous Waste & E-Waste Recycling Roundup at Compton/Woodley Airport, Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Compton/Woodley Airport is located at 901 W. Alondra Blvd.

The Roundup is a free, safe, and easy way to dispose of items that are too toxic to trash. Some examples of what you can bring are:

Motor oil, oil filters, brake fluid, used antifreeze, paint, paint thinner, turpentine, cleaners containing acid or lye, pesticides or herbicides, household batteries or car batteries, pool chemicals, CRTs, old TVs, electronics, mercury thermostats or thermometers, fluorescent light bulbs, used needles or sharps (in a sharps container or sturdy box labeled “Sharps,” unwanted or expired prescriptions.

The following are items you should not bring;

Explosives, ammunition, radioactive materials, trash, old tires, business waste, white goods (stove, refrigerator, washing machines, dryers, controlled substances, biohazardous waste (blood, urine, human breast milk).

Bring the items you wish to dispose of in a sturdy box, preferably in their original, labeled containers.

Be prepared to leave your containers. Because of permitting requirements, and the volume of people that utilize the program, items such as gasoline cans will not be returned.
