Compton mayor seeks local girls striving for excellence 

Mayor Brown's initiative is focused on developing young Compton ladies into leaders

Girls in grades 5-12 sought for Young Ladies Empowerment Initiative by Compton Mayor Aja Brown; application deadline April 23

COMPTON – In honor of Women’s History Month, Compton Mayor Aja Brown is accepting applications for both mentees and mentors for her Young Ladies Empowerment Initiative through April 23. To qualify as a mentee, applicants must be in grades 5-12 and a Compton resident. There is no grade point average requirement to apply.

Mentors should be women 19 years and older and have leadership qualities. Applications can be submitted online. Visit www.comptoncity.org.

“This program will empower young ladies to lead their life with purpose, passion and vision,” said Mayor Brown of her initiative, which is focused on developing young ladies from Compton to be leaders who are confident, capable and prepared to change the world through mentorship, exposure, education and opportunity.
