COMPTON — The Compton Community College District has hired Lauren Sosenko as the new manager of research and planning, effective Aug. 13, 2018.
The manager of research and planning organizes, develops, evaluates, and implements a comprehensive institutional research program to assist Compton College in improving its effectiveness as a learning-centered institution.
Sosenko will also provide research assistance to instructional and non-instructional departments to aid in the institution’s program review process, accreditation, planning, learning outcomes, grant development, and overall improvement.
Prior to joining the Compton Community College District, Sosenko was the director of institutional research at Long Beach City College. Before working at LBCC, she served as a research and evaluation consultant with the Institute for Evidence Based Change and WestEd. In these roles, she directed data linking efforts and evaluations of teacher preparation programs, dropout prevention programs, and college preparation materials. Sosenko also contributed to the development of a data use model for college leadership.
In 2017, Sosenko developed strategic plan metrics and goals for LBCC, and created a data use framework for multiple stakeholders to see how their own planning and operational actions connected to the plan. This process was documented and published by the Harvard Education Press in a book chapter about data use and change measurement in community colleges.
Sosenko earned a master’s degree in justice, law and society from American University in Washington D.C., and a bachelor’s degree in social anthropology from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
