Pepsi Cola’s advertising/marketing executives missed this one: They should have created a television commercial to air during NBC’s two-week broadcast of the “Rio Olympic Games” in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, based on Coca Cola’s famous jingle, “Coca-Cola – it’s the Real Thing!”
Pepsi’s could have scored a marketing coup with a similar jingle with a twist: Pepsi Cola, it’s the Rio thing!
Coca-Cola is the No. 1 cola company in the world with dominant market share, globally. They dominate the commercial advertising market in all the primetime venues – NFL Super Bowl, NBA Finals, Major League Baseball World Series, Rio Olympic Games … Pepsi can’t get a leg up.
I personally like Pepsi Cola better than Coke. I consider its taste, the “Real thing” So do a lot of others. But, before that becomes reality, Pepsi’s marketing brain trust have got to step it up!
They should have consulted me.
