Grassroots coalition comes together to declare zero-tolerance of marijuana enterprises in Compton
COMPTON — Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM), a national organization helping to defeat marijuana in local communities, will host a news conference, Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. at 501 Santa Fe Ave., Compton to declare a zero-tolerance of marijuana enterprises.
Joining SAM will be The Committee to Ban Marijuana Businesses in Compton, a consortium of local exponents of cannabis enterprises, Compton Unified School District Board President Satra Zurita, Compton city council members and other council persons from other cities fighting for a complete ban will be in attendance.
Kevin Sabet, national director of SAM, who recently addressed the Concerned Citizens of Compton, referring to the cannabis industry.as “public enemy number #, says the news conference will focus on how the marijuana industry is taking advantage of communities of color.
Other local leadership addressing the issue will be Satra Zurita, CUSD board president, Compton councilpersons Emma Sharif, Janna Zurita, and Tana McCoy;
Marie Hollis, president, Concerned Citizens for Compton; Royce Esters, president, National Association of Equal Justice in America; and Gilda Blueford, Compton Block Club Association
