HOLLYWOOD – The red carpet arrivals at the 2017 BET Awards were eclectic – from rappers to actors, babies, significant others, girl and boy groups, and corporate sponsors – and did not disappoint.

Actress and comedian Leslie Jones brought her sexy on the red carpet where she frequently flashed her long legs in a thigh-high slit, plunging neckline money-green gown that set the tone for a grown and sexy award show spearheaded by BET executives CEO Debra Lee and Interim Head of Programming Connie Orlando.

It was a family affair for many of the actors, performers, TV personalities, music artists, and nominees: Chicagoan Chance the Rapper — at 24 years-old, the youngest person to receive the BET Humanitarian Award — walked the carpet with his mom, Lisa Bennett. TV personality and entertainer Tamar Braxton and her mom Evelyn walked in holding hands. Actress and Director Sallie Richardson Whitfield was accompanied by her daughter Parker Richardson Whitfield. Forty-one-year-old record producer DJ Khaled made a grand entrance with fiancée Nicole Tuck and their 8-month old son Asahd. Future with his daughter Londyn Wilburn made a statement by wearing matching rock crystal masks to represent his song “Mask Off.”

Black love was in bloom with the arrival of inseparable couples. Remy Ma arrived with husband Papoose who let her shine for solo shots. Her stunning dress earned big points for a classy look to match her well-earned title as Best Female Hip-Hop Artist to the delight of her fans. BET Awards Announcer and female rapper MC Lyte arrived with fiancé John.

The fashion was colorful and for many, transparent. Actress Margaret Avery dazzled in an African-inspired long gown; LeToya Luckett looked elegant in a colorful dress with a long trail; The Real’s Loni Love showed her shapely body in a jumpsuit and a flirty caftan, and Empire’s Ta’Rhonda Jones wore the black and yellow like only a superstar could. Showstoppers Blac Chyna and her mom Shalana Hunter were matching in daring black gowns. Chyna’s sheen black jumpsuit garnered a lot of attention especially since her baby weight has clearly disappeared.

Bodies were inked from head to toe on the men: Ty Dolla $ign, They, Rae Sremmurd, and Post Malone.

Summer is officially in full swing, and so were the platinum blond bobs that adorned the heads of Blac Chyna, Cardi B, Karrueche Tran, and Tamar.

The high-energy, memorable performance of New Edition (original) and New Edition (BET TV version) together for the first time on stage was a fan favorite. If you love old school R&B, you understood that the Lifetime Achievement Award was a no-brainer for a group who have been together for decades and plans to go back on the road in 2017.
