Alex Johnson: Compton resident 50 years

Inglewood Cemetery Chapel, 3801 W. Manchester Blvd. will host the viewing of Alex Johnson and the Homegoing service.

Alex Johnson Sr., 80, died on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, after a long illness. He was a resident of Compton for 50 years.

Alex was employed by the City of Los Angeles for 27 years. Active in the Compton community, he served as president and coach for the Willowbrook Youth Football Association and was active in the Kalsman Avenue Block Club. He was also a Freemason.

Alex is survived by his wife Shirley of 40 years, daughter Tracy, son’s Alex Jr., Johnny, and Eric; nieces Evelyn and Sabrina, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family members. Alex was a Loving father, husband, mentor, and friend to all.

Viewing of Alex Johnson will be held on Friday, Feb. 19 from 3-8 p.m. Homegoing service is scheduled for Feb. 20, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Inglewood Cemetery Chapel, 3801 W. Manchester Blvd. For more info, call 310-412-6811.
