California Coalition and Minority Alliance to host Town Hall discussion on implications, pro and con, of marijuana enterprises in Compton

COMPTON (MNS) — The Southern California Coalition and the California Minority Alliance, will host a Town Hall meeting to discuss “The Flip Side: The Truth About Green in Our City,” Nov. 16, from 6-9 p.m. at the Douglas F. Dollarhide Community Center, 301 N. Tamarind Ave., Compton.

The passage of Prop. 64 has legalized the recreational use of marijuana under state law and set the standard for sales and cultivation taxes. Marijuana has been legal for medicinal purposes for nearly two decades. Despite the fact several states have legalized recreational pot, many questions remain about the pros and cons of legalization, According to organizers, the Town Hall will provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and give feedback on the “gray” areas of the marijuana industry not so clearly black and white.

Topics to be discussed include the economic impact, taxation and regulation, crime and the impact on law enforcement, and the criminal justice system; medical marijuana, revenue for schools, public health, and education; outside corporate interests, and the marijuana “black” market.
