Little Hearts Baby Shower a first for South L.A. facility; introduces the MLK, Jr. Community Hospital’s Labor and Delivery Unit

LOS ANGELES – The new Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital recently held its first-ever Little Hearts Maternal Health Baby Shower, the first of a monthly series, which introduced the hospital’s Labor and Delivery Unit to expectant mothers in the South L.A. area.

The two-day event provided expectant mothers and fathers the opportunity to engage with physicians and nurses through discussions about birthing, breastfeeding, and other maternal health-related topics. Attendees were also treated to an interactive tour of family-oriented birthing suites.

“We are excited to welcome expecting mothers to our state-of-the-art unit,” said MLK, Jr. Community Hospital’s Director of Maternal Child Health Kennetha Gaines. “We look forward to serving our community by helping families grow, one baby at a time.”

The hospital’s next baby shower is scheduled for late September. Expectant mother’s and their guests can register for the event at www.mlkch.org/baby to reserve a seat, or call the main Labor and Delivery Unit at (424) 338-8233.
