Hip-Hop Classic Charity Golf Tournament, June 15

The pre-Father’s Day Hip Hop Classic features special guest celebrities, local public officials, a full day of golf and a special dinner and awards ceremony

Lonzo Williams aka Godfather of West Coast Hip Hop partners with American Cancer Society; some proceeds benefit The Lyrical Revolution, a 501c (3) created to mentor youth interested in music entertainment careers

COMPTON – In celebration of International Men’s Health Month, the Godfather of West Coast Hip Hop, Lonzo Williams, has announced a partnership with the American Cancer Society to present the Hip Hop Classic Charity Golf Tournament, June 15, at 10 a.m., at the Lakewood Golf & Country Club, 3101 Carson St., Lakewood, Calif [MAP].

This pre-Father’s Day Hip Hop Classic, the first of what is to be an annual event, will feature special guest celebrities, including local public officials for a full day of golf on the greens followed by a special dinner and awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

Throughout the day attendees can expect free preventive cancer information and resources, raffles and prizes provided by local health partners.

Since 2011, Williams has served as a spokesperson for prostate cancer awareness, having survived the disease after early detection. Since then, he has championed the prostate screening by bringing awareness to men in his circle and using his multi-media platform to educate the African American community.

A portion of the proceeds from the Hip Hop Classic Charity Golf Tournament will benefit “Relay for Life,” and Williams’ non-profit , “The Lyrical Revolution.”

The Lyrical Revolution is a 501c (3) organization founded in 2014 by Alonzo “Lonzo” Williams, aka the Godfather of West Coast Hip-Hop. The Compton native created the organization to mentor youth interested in music entertainment careers. In recent years, the organization has expanded to provide mentorship in sports and legal aid.
