Organizers hope to increasing understanding of the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in early childhood education

COMPTON — Compton College will host an Early Childhood Education/STEM Conference, May 25, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., on campus at 1111 E. Artesia Blvd. [MAP] Open to students and faculty the conference is a partnership between the Childhood Education Program and the TEACH Los Angeles Regional Collaborative.

Interactive workshops dedicated to increasing understanding of the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in early childhood education is a primary goal of the conference. Early familiarity with and exposure to STEM concepts is a key indicator of a child’s success in school. Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the conclusion of each workshop.

The conference is free. Check-in and breakfast occur from 8 – 8:30 a.m in the Student Lounge. Registration is required HERE. For more information call (310) 900-1600, ext. 2343.
