LOS ANGELES — A “Back to School Health Fair” slated for Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, will provide no-cost health and dental screenings, along with free haircuts for boys. Charles Drew University is located at 1731 E. 120 St., Los Angeles.

Assemblyman Mike Gipson, D-Carson, is sponsoring the event. Mobile health units and food vendors will be available to serve participants. In addition live entertainment, and the “Shaky Quaky Schoolhouse,” designed to teach earthquake preparedness, will buoy the event.

“There’s nothing like the smile of a child, multiplied on the many faces of students who are anticipating and prepared for the school year,” said Gipson. “I am excited about this ‘Back to School Health Fair’ where children and residents can also take advantage of free haircuts by L.A. Barber College; resources from Molina Healthcare and services by our community partners.”

Free parking will be available at 1729 E. 118th St. adjacent to the university.
