Compton a part of annual national community, police campaign to send anti-crime message

COMPTON  – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Target stores will partner with the City of Compton, once again for the annual crime and drug prevention event, National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gateway Town Center, 1621 S. Alameda Ave, Compton.

Residents and businesses will gather together at Target stores to send a unified message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Compton will join more than 12,000 communities across the U.S., territories, Canada, and military bases around the world to send this message.

The aim is to come together to reinforce crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen police and community partnerships.The National Association of Town Watch sponsors National Night Out nationwide.
